Barn eggs
Our barn hens have free access to the barn to roam around at all
times. Perches are provided so the hens can sleep like they do in
nature. Nest boxes offer the hens the opportunity to lay their egg
in a quiet place. Part of the floor surface is equipped with litter
where the hens can scratch and take a sand bath. During daytime
natural daylight is available. In this way an environment is
created in which the hens can express their natural
behaviour.
In addition to the traditional barn housing Kwetters has developed
a barn with "winter garden". During daytime the hens have access to
an additional covered area. On a daily basis grain is spread on the
litter and bales of straw are provided to enrich the living
environment of the hens. The larger amount of space and the
increased variety contributes to the wellbeing of the hens.
